Submission to the Progress Issue
Bainbridge Post-Searchlight
January 18, 2008

Southwest Georgia Oil Co., Inc. completed a transition in its retail stores during 2007. The Pantry, operating its Kangaroo Stores, began operating the former Inland stores in Georgia, Florida and Alabama in February 2007. Around the same time, however, SWG Oil purchased 17 stores in southeastern Alabama formerly owned by Big/Little Stores, Inc. and now operates those stores under its SunValley Market & Deli name. Those stores have Inland gas, carwashes, convenience items and SunValley delis. The company continues to own and operate the Piggly Wiggly grocery store in Cairo, Georgia which offers a full line of grocery products including a fully-staffed butcher shop.

Additionally, early in 2007, the company opened its retail propane store on the square in downtown Bainbridge. Inland Propane offers propane appliances, patio and industrial heaters, fireplace logs, grills, propane parts and supplies at its retail location and continues to offer propane fuel, appliance and tank installation and service for residential, commercial and agricultural applications.

With this transition also came a renewed emphasis on the company’s wholesale fuel business. SWG Oil has grown its Inland Oil and LP business that focuses on propane sales and service, fuel transportation, petroleum sales and distribution, and its flagship production facility – Seminole Biodiesel. Having completed construction of the biodiesel manufacturing plant and a new, state of the art bulk plant facility during 2007 – both located in the city’s Commodore Industrial Park – the company is ready to move into 2008 with the only biodiesel production facility of its size within 250 miles. The ability to market biodiesel, ethanol, on-road and off-road diesel, and all grades of gasoline through its bulk plant will enhance SWG Oil’s ability to serve its current customers and broaden its scope to new markets. Retail customers will be able to purchase biodiesel at the Inland on Shotwell Street across from Cheney Griffin State Park by the end of January and wholesale customers will have the option of buying custom-blends of biodiesel (B2-B100) to suit their specific needs.

Southwest Georgia Oil Co., Inc. and Seminole Biodiesel are poised to help move the region toward a more environmentally friendly source of energy that supports our local and national agribusiness industry and avoids the security issues surrounding our nation’s dependence on imported oil. Additionally, the company is energized about its ability to better serve its wholesale customers with transport services, our bulk plant facility, high quality fuel products, and an emphasis on service based on over 40 years of dedication to our customers.
